Remington Model 14-1/2 was chambered for 38-40 and 44-40. The 14 was chambered in .25, .30, .32, and .35 Remington. The A means it is a standard grade rifle, as opposed to B, C, D, F (progressively higher grades).
Never try to educate someone who resists knowledge at all costs.
