any of you guys shoot paper patched ???
Yes. 45x3½ - 600gr Ballard bullet - Fg-90gr/4759-8gr - 1 milk carton over-powder cardwad and 1@¼"crisco/beeswax-soaked felt under-bullet wad.

is there still a lube used ??? or does paper take it's place???
I rub a 3:1 (volume) Motor Mic/Lithium Grease lube onto the patch w/ fingers.

the paper must burn right ???
The patch does not burn at all. It will shed itself in strips after muzle exit

do they only use paper with black powder, or can I use it with Trailboss or one of my other smokeless powders ???
It's an "all-powder" technique

could I paper patch cast bullets, ( assuming the correct diameters ) or is it only done with swagged soft lead ???
I cast the Ballard 600's from pure lead to fire at ~1,400fps. The soft lead takes the rifling better in my (19)81 Sharps. Reliable 1-MOA groups w/ aperture/tang sights

You must use a mold which is many thousandths undersize to accomdate the paper thickness. I use 25% cotton onionskin which is (IIRC) 0.007" thick (x2 wraps) = 0.457" - (4 x 0.007") ≈ 0.430" (I'll have to check that when I get home.)
