I use IMR-4198 for 7.62x39 only, it is a faster burning powder than H-335 or other powders use in 223. There are loads from Hodgdon for the 223 but it will not use enough of the case space to give good results. With most reloads you want your powder to fill the case 90% or better.

The powder is recommended for smaller size cases like the 222 Remington or the 221 Fireball or a 45-70 rifle.

There is a ton of better powders for the 223, I would recommend H-335, IMR-8208 XBR or H-4895.
