How well does the tritium and fiber optic illumination work for powering the dot? Is the dot visible in bright light? Is the dot visible in complete darkness? Do you notice that the light washes out coming from a dark area to a light area?

I'm very interested in a red...er amber dot that doesn't use batteries. But, this one is pretty expensive and I want to know that it works well before I shell out that kind of cash.
