I used to load for a .30-30 Contender with a 16" barrel. One I liked was the 135 gr. Sierra Single Shot Pistol bullet with 35 gr. of BLC-2. For other bullets, I would base on that, and use the same charge for a 125 gr. such as the Nosler ballistic tip, or drop to 33 gr. for a 150 gr. bullet, as a place to start. Look over the Hodgdon manual, available for free online. They say to use 37 gr. of BLC-2 with a 150 gr. FP. A better place to ask may well be here:
