At what power of caliber, etc......does one choose between the two??

Steel-bed is just Acraglass with metal shavings in it. To heck with both.....go with Marine-Tex (get it at your local boating supply store). Much stronger, better looking, easier to work with, and doesn't run or drip. Also, shrinkage is pretty much ZERO and it doesn't crystalize and break down. Best yet, you can just roughen up your first application and put a second application over that in cases where you get voids or bad contact. No loss in strength or durability. You can drill and mill it. Best stuff around, AND CHEAPER!!!!!:D :D :D

Steel Bed is also heavy.
If you have alot of action to fill, your featherweight might turn into a midweight...
Next bed job I'm going to try Marine-tex as everyone who uses it seems to prefer it...
