View Full Version : Painting a scope?

I bought a Leupold 2x silver from a co-worker for next to nothing (much less than a glock high cap mag). I'm going to mount it on my wood stocked/blue scout rifle.
I could sell it and buy a black one, but I probably won't (just don't feel like dealing with it).
So...has anyone ever painted their scope with that temporary cammo paint or used the cammo tape on a scope? Any advice, tips?

Guess I'll answer my own question. Yes, it can be done, did it last night and it looks great. Now I've got a matt black Leupold.
And here it is...a bit fuzzy though.

I just clicked onto gear and accesories on accident and read your post. I have painted my Leupold twice. The key as you hopefully figured out was to tape over those lenses and not let any paint get to them! I also masked off the markings for the side focus and for the zoom. And for me I masked off my gold Leupold ring. Why? I just couldn't bring myself to paint the ring that signifies what a large investment I made.

Hey Atticus,
Did you use a medium height or High set of rings for your scout configuration?
I gotta order a set of rings and need some advice.
Thanks.
