View Full Version : Trigger groups exchangeable between 870?

October 30, 2001, 08:39 AM
I have one with the old style safety and one with the dumb politically correct safety. I would like to switch out the safeties between them. Drop it in? Or is there a difference between them. I figured it would be easier to just swap groups than change the actuall safety.

Thanks, Opie

870 trigger groups interchange within gauge. But won't swapping them still leave you with that PC %^&*( safety on another 870?

Yea it will still be on one of them  , but we all have favorites.

You might do a search here or over at www.assaultweb.net
I think somebody posted simple instructions on how to install the old style safety in the new trigger plate. Old safeties are still available hear and there.

I believe Wilson is selling the old style safeties cheap on their clearance area of their web site . . . it seems like it was less than $ 5.

The safety is so easy and cheap to swap that nobody really has an excuse not to do it if they are opposed to the PC locking safety.

After seeing how it's done at the local gun shop it took me maybe 3 minutes to replace the safety on my buddy's 870 when he asked me to switch it out for him.

$4 + shipping at Wilson Combat. I bought several from them, and replaced the safeties in all my Remington shotguns. Only takes a few minutes.

Pop pin, remove a spring, and detent pin. Replace safety. Reassemble. Not too hard. You just have to be careful the spring doesn't pop out and get lost.
