View Full Version : Interstate transportation of a shotgun?

August 16, 2001, 10:31 AM

The first gun I ever owned was a single shot, break apart 12 Ga. shotgun my Dad purchased for me when I was 13 or 14. The last time I went to visit him, I was digging through the garage and came across it. I would like to take it home with me, or have him bring it when he comes to visit, but he lives in Colorado and I live in Kali.
What would I have to do to legally bring it in the state? Hopefully whatever it is won't cost too much, because the darn thing aint worth that much...otherwise I guess I'll have to leave it with him for the time being.

Lock it in your gun case, Put it in the trunk of your car and drive it home. Most states allow you to travel with a shotgun or rifle as long as it is secured. I drive all over the northeast with my shotguns and never have a problem. People travel to major shoots all the time with their guns, even take them on airlines so you shouldn't have a problem with it.
