On National "buy a gun day" I put a Maadi on Layaway. I'm new to the AK world. what are the differences between the Misr-10 and other AK type rifles like the mac-90?
My dealer threw in a 30 round mag with my purchase, but on another forum I saw something about making a conversion to accept 30 rounders in the Maadi. Is there something I need to know? Do I need to get a swap for something that will accept 30 round mags without modification?
Mine has the plastic pistol grip stock (no thumb hole) and a wood rear and front pieces.
Any comments appreciated.

I don't consider myself as an AK expert but I thought all the AK mags fit all those rifles without modification. George

they do make a 10 shot only AK, its the SA2000 made by FEG, and
its a single stack mag, can't put anything in except their expensive
10 rd mag, but their are ALOT of choices, check out Tennese Guns
or Sothern Ohio Guns, they sell milled and stamped receiver AKs
that have pistol grips and look like pre-ban AKSs AKMs.and all will
accept hi-cap mags, starting prices for stamped are about $239,
and milled $450.

I have a Maadi and have slapped 30 rd. mags from everywhere in it, I have had no problems or needed to covert anything

and some of the more recent ones are sold with single-stack magazine wells, to meet the BATF import criteria. Just pick up a copy of Shotgun News, or get the SOG flyer, and look at the single-stack and double stack AK's, in .308 Winchester, 7.62x39, 5.45x39, .223 Remington, stamped receivers, milled receivers, Egyptian, Rumanian, Hungarian, Bulgarian, Yugoslavian, Russian, Chinese, and American. Ain't it great? So, you can find a Maadi that accepts 30-round double-stack magazines, and next to it on the dealer's rack is a Maadi that will only accept those PC single-stack 10-rounders. ;)

Misr-10, besides being a POS Maadi, is a SINGLE STACK 10rd AK.
The MAK 90 is a Chinese AK that accepts regular sized mags and drums and is of a much better quality than the post-ban Maadis.
Unless your Maadi, if it is this Misr-10, has had the mag well opened up, it won't accept 30rd mags. If it is opened up and doesn't have the requisite number of US parts, then it is ILLEGAL (which would make you an unconvicted FELON if it is YOURS). Felon = Prohibited Posessor = no more Deputy.
