May 26th at Water and Wings Shooting range in East Greenville PA. Its right outside of Quakertown about 45min from Philadelphia. There Website is http://www.WaterandWings.com for directions. They have a 500yd rifle range 50yd pistol range and a Sporting Clays range also. It only going to cost you $15 to shoot all day at the rifle and pistol range. I'm going to stick to May 26th date unless I get Too many Nays from you guys so give me a head count!

April 28, 2001, 06:12 PM
OK the date is perfect for me. Even if it wasn't I would find a way to get there.

ArmySon ...If you don't show up this time we will hunt you down and...and.. and pull out every hair on your head:)

OK you humps. Lets go! Get yourselves together and plan to go.

Patience Geoff it took over a week to get the word out last time. I have a bunch of friends that are going to be able to go this time and maybe I'll bug my sister to bring some of her friends.

May 1, 2001, 07:17 AM
Will have to catch you all at the next one, May 26 is the date of the annual three gun IPSC match at Ontelaunee Rod & Gun. :(

May 1, 2001, 11:05 AM

May 1, 2001, 04:27 PM
Anyone is welcome! Even Newbies!! I've posted at a few other places and emailed a bunch of people and gotten good responses. Sorry to hear you can't make it Justin!
There are a bunch of guys over at FNFAL.com that are interested in going. It seems there are a lot of matches going on next month but I'm sticking to May 26th.

May 3, 2001, 03:01 AM
Uhhh Geoff, what hair are you going to pull out of my head?

I don't know if I can make it that weekend yet. I think we have a fishing tournament that weekend. I'll double check tomorrow to be sure.

May 3, 2001, 01:03 PM
Thanks for the heads up soda pop. I would just have to find some directions. I am just south of Reading, Pa

Jamie Young
May 3, 2001, 04:24 PM
You can call for directions at Water and Wings there website has there phone number. Its literally like 3 miles west of the Quakertown exit on the Turnpike. I am having trouble posting over at FnFal.com but there a bunch of guys near Harrisburg that are interested in going. I have 5 friends that said they were going and I'm trying to pursuade my girfriend to bring some of her friends up. Its a nice place to hang out at for the day. They have a snack bar and 50cent soda YEHAAA!!!

May 4, 2001, 05:44 AM

I find it hard to believe that someone would go Fishing rather than shooting:)

Next you will be telling us yu are going to a GOLF tournament.

Geoff Ross

PS I saw the thread in glock talk, it was supposed to be slightly humorous. Of course I would not condone violence against any member of TFL, unless they go fishing or play golf when they should be shooting:)

May 4, 2001, 07:48 AM
I am going to check that range out tomorrow (Sat), as I will finally have some time during the day to do stuff. The good news is I have a place to stay that is like 5-6 miles from there :)

May 8, 2001, 08:01 AM
BTT :)

Geoff Ross

May 8, 2001, 05:33 PM
Yeah I have a place to stay just up 663, then down PA29 :) See you all there as long as my plans dont change.... Around what time will this Gathering be on Saturday?? What time does it end??? Maybe after we can all hit PC in Pennsburg???

Jamie Young
May 8, 2001, 07:50 PM
Well I'll get there around 10am and it ends around sunset. I'd say between 10am and 1pm should be good. I finally got threw at FNFAL.com and got two guys that said they'll come. Were in the double digits now so keep spreading the word.
They do have a snack bar there so you can eat and chill out inside if its really hot. Somebody has to bring a pickup truck so we can drive down to the 500yd targets. THEY LET YOU DRIVE TO CHANGE YOUR TARGETS!!! Its pretty funny but its better than walking.

May 8, 2001, 09:09 PM
I will be there. Hope to meet some New Jerseyites. I will be coming from the Burligton-Bristol Bridge area.

May 9, 2001, 05:41 AM
Sodapop you ever hear of PC??? A bar in Pennsburg???

May 9, 2001, 10:24 AM
Count me in.

Jamie Young
May 9, 2001, 05:36 PM
Good 2 more!!! No Dead I have never heard of it? I have one guy over at 1911Forum that said he'll defanitely come and he lives within walking distance. Even if its overcast you can still shoot there and stay dry they have a nice setup even in bad weather. So no chickening out!! Does anyone have a Digital Camera????? Justin brought one last time but he's not coming :( and it would be nice if somebody could take pictures.

So what are you guys going to be bringing? I'll probable bring my Colt1991A1,Mini 14,SKS, and hopefully my FAL if its gets back from DSA in time. They recalled the gun because the ATF changed there minds on the muzzle break

May 10, 2001, 05:40 AM
I have a digital camera. :)

Sodapop, check out pcpubonline.com I cant beleive that place has a website. I will find out if atleast one of my friend will come out for this.

May 12, 2001, 07:10 AM
Ok soda and you other guys. What kind of targets are available at the range?

Do I need to bring my own targets? What kind of target frames does the range have? What do they allow? Full silouette or just bullseye targets?

Can I bring my own or do I have to buy at the range?

I have never shot at 500 meters, what kind of target do I need for this:eek: I am damn sure going to try my 30-06 at this range. May not hit anything but it will be fun to try.

Hope I do not have to go home with unfired ammo like last time. :p

Geoff Ross

Jamie Young
May 12, 2001, 09:27 AM
No Geoff you won't go home with any unfired ammo this time!!
I would bring whatever paper targets you want. They just have wooden posts but they get shot down a lot. I'm going to bring some cardboard from work to use as a back drop just so we don't have to worry about showing up and seeing shot up target posts. They sell a few targets inside but there not fancy just simple ones.

May 12, 2001, 12:38 PM

Then I can bring my full sized targets of Janet Reno and Hillary:eek: (Just kidding)

What do you use at 500 yds? Hope somebody brings a good spotting scope:)

I'll have to dig out my staple gun and collect some cardboard.

Geoff Ross

May 12, 2001, 02:20 PM
Hopefully I can get some ammo @ the next show for this.... Then I need to figure out what to bring. (I dont think my pellet gun will work well ;) )

About how many people are going so far???

Jamie Young
May 12, 2001, 02:36 PM
Actually Geoff at 500yds all you have to do is walk down there and pick out a target thats already up. Half the people that shoot 500yds never hit there targets and end up leaving them up LOL seriously! I shoot 150gr reloads out of a Model 70 and I can hit paper. Let me do a quick head count.....................................

Jamie Young
May 12, 2001, 02:39 PM
7 from TFL plus there guests or family members. 1 from 1911 Forum and two from FnFal.com. 10 Confirmed and 3 Maybes and 2 Interested. I'll keep posting other places.

May 13, 2001, 01:24 AM
Barring any emergent travel trips from work I should be able to show with a buddy of mine. We'll represent NJ. Can you shoot an AR-15 there? I don't know about PA laws and I don't want to get anyone in trouble. We'll have 9mm, .357 magnums, .40 cal, .45 cal and .223 cal weapons, does this place have ammo for these calibers? We will bring our own ammo but more than likely we'll shoot it all and I'm wondering if this range stocks these calibers. Also, what about the targets, do we bring our own or can we buy targets there? This sounds like fun and I'm looking forward to attending.

Jamie Young
May 13, 2001, 09:46 AM
Bring your own Ammo I think the only thing they sell is Hot Dogs and Soda. They sell a few targets but just simple ones. I'd bring everything you need to shoot with you. Yes you can bring an AR to the range. I have not gone to the Shotgun range so I don't know if they sell ammo for that either. Let me email them and make sure.

May 13, 2001, 09:53 AM
Hello All, Sounds Good ;) I'm gonna look at my schedule and try to make it, Can't say for sure right now. Look forwrd to meeting all of the PA. TFL gang. I hope I can make it ;)

May 13, 2001, 02:35 PM
Thanks for asking. I can probably make the 26th depending how I feel. Health problems.

I`m having a problem reading the web site so some questions. It`s about 3 miles from the tpk. extension?

I`m strictly a pistol shooter. Does the pistol range allow shorter distances? I`d probably bring my Kahr, at least one .45 and the .40 & 9mm H.P`s.

Jamie Young
May 13, 2001, 03:26 PM
There is a 50yd pistol range but you can shoot closer actually as close as about 10yds. Its really just an area with a big dirt dune at 50yds. I'm going to try and bring up some wooden posts for targets so you can stick them in the ground wherever you want. Like I said previously the wooden posts get shot down a lot at this place and your better off bringing your own targets and backdrops. I'll have plenty of cardboard for everyone.

The easiest way is to take the turnpike up to the Quakertown Exit depending on where your coming from dinosaur. Northeast Extension all the way up two exits to the Quakertown Exit its exit 32 You turn right on 663 and go down about 3 miles to the second traffic light and turn right. Take that road (I forget the Name) for about 2 miles and you'll see a big sign on the right and a dirt road for Water and Wings Shooting Club. You can call or email WaterandWings.com for Exact directions but Mine should get you there.

May 14, 2001, 03:54 AM
Targets aren`t a problem, I just ordered a bunch of "Freddie`s". Inside joke. The backings are another story. I guess we can work that out.

May 14, 2001, 06:28 PM
Sounds great. BArring any unforseen problems at work I'll be there for a few hours. Maybe bring a few friends, too. Do they allow 12ga slugs on the rifle range?

Jamie Young
May 14, 2001, 06:30 PM
Absolutely!!!!!!!!!! And there is a Range for shooting Clays. They have some 14yr old kid pull but I think its like $25 for a certain number.

There is also NO LIMIT on magazine capacity although they don't like it when people do the rapid fire thing. No Automatics either.

May 14, 2001, 09:19 PM
No rapid fire???? Uh oh, better leave the level action at home ;)

May 15, 2001, 06:50 AM
Just checked on this place in Blacks Wing and Clay 2001.

The Sporing Clays course is run by Dan Carlisle (former member of US olympic team) and has a 5 Stand as well. The course is probably at an advanced level. 5 stand is supposed to be challenging.

Don't know if there will be time for it with all the other stuff going on, but is anybody interested in shooting Sporting Clays.? We would need to have a group of 4-5 shooters and the course will probably take 2+ hours to complete? $25 sounds cheap for a 100 bird course, most places run $30 or more for 100 birds.

I'm gonna need an Army deuce and a Half to bring all my stuff (Guns, ammo, targets etc).

May 18, 2001, 07:03 AM

Might be going to Detroit that weekend.... Will find out Saturday

Jamie Young
May 18, 2001, 05:56 PM

Jamie Young
May 21, 2001, 09:16 PM
This is just a reminder to everyone to bring everything you possible need to shoot. I'm bring tons of "cardboard" I think thats how ya spell it for everyone as a back drop but I am completly overwhelmed by the number of people that are emailing me from AR15.com. 5 days and counting!!!

May 22, 2001, 09:02 AM
I might be making it after all..... If I show up I show up! I would like ot know when(and where) that "other" PA is shoot is happening again..... That car trick musta been fun! :D

Plans are flying around like crazy!

May 23, 2001, 04:19 PM
The wife has just informed me that we must attend a wedding on that day at 3:00. I hope to make the next one. Have a great time fellas........

May 23, 2001, 04:35 PM
The next PA car shoot is scheduled for sometime in September 2001. I would check periodically at http://www.gunsnet.net/forums/ak47/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum&f=10 around that time.

Have fun at the shoot this weekend, I'll have to catch you all at the next one.

Jamie Young
May 23, 2001, 04:44 PM
I don't have a camera so somebody has to bring one now that Ray is out?

May 24, 2001, 05:50 AM
Where is that root shoot thing?? Anywhere around Quakertown?

Soda Looks like I will be there Saturday. I already have a place to stay so. :D

May 24, 2001, 07:53 AM
Root Shoot is in Susquehanna, which is very close to the New York state border.

May 24, 2001, 01:20 PM
WOW count me and some others in then!!!! Send me an email when you have the exact date!!! :D

May 24, 2001, 03:56 PM
Is anyone bringing one of those teeny Glock water pistols? I`m picking up a Kahr MK9 tomorrow and we could do an unbiased test between that toy and a real gun.:D
A good work out Saturday and the Kahr will be broken in.

Jamie Young
May 24, 2001, 06:22 PM
The weather is Unpredictable it seems. The place is pretty sheltered for shooting so its got to be raining pretty hard before I'd call it quits. I think there saying there is a chance of rain saturday. We could always go inside the lounge and wait out and short down pours. I still haven't gotten my FAL back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't have everyones email addresses so I can't remind everyone to go. Hopefully Everyone is checking back here regulary?

May 24, 2001, 07:16 PM
i r not checking here @ all.... I dunno if I am coming out there Friday night, or Saturday morning yet.. ugh.. atleast I have a place to saty :)

May 25, 2001, 07:53 AM
count me in, looks like a fun trip

also for those from out of state. PA has no funny gun or naughty ammo rules. transport the firearms in the trunk with the ammo in your passenger space ,should be no problem. best defence print out the event announcements and web page directions.
going to a range is a positive defence here.

Jamie Young
May 25, 2001, 04:24 PM
Just in case some of you get scared away by bad weather I intend on having another shoot next month at the same place.
Seeya all there

May 25, 2001, 06:17 PM
Weather...what is weather? I shoot in all kinds of weather. Nothing is going to get betwen me and shooting, especially if it is outside of NY.

If an old geezer like me can tough it out, you young punks don't have a hair on your butt if you chicken out. Of course, ArmySon has no hair on his head so I'll bring a nice warm hat for him:)

Ahhhh... I love the smell of burnt gunpowder in the morning....smells like....freedom!

(Just have to remember to bring the advil and I'll be OK)

Geoff Ross

May 26, 2001, 05:52 AM
Maybe it`ll stop later.:(

Jamie Young
May 26, 2001, 08:00 AM
From what I see on the Dopplar Radar right now it looks like its going to clear up in the early afternoon. So you can come out later. I'm getting ready to go up now.

Jamie Young
May 26, 2001, 06:26 PM
The Shoot is going to be moved to Sunday June 10th. I'll start a new Thread for that.
