Harley, I hate to keep bugging you in bits and pieces but.... I also need disassembly instructions on a Remington 14 1/2 in .44/40. (Believe it or not, I do have the disassmbly info on most of my guns, the colt lightning, Win M1873 and this Remington have me stumped though). Thanks, Ken DROVER

Ken,

Have you tried the NRA Firearms Disassembly Manuals?

I think the 1873 and 14 1/2 are covered, but I don't know about the Lightning.

Ken:
If you will provide an email address, I have a minimal disassem of the Win 1873, taken from a very old Rilfleman magazine, that I can send you. I don't have the others.

The Gun Digest Book of Firearms Assembly/Disassembly; Part IV Centerfire Rifles by J.B. Wood has the 14 1/2. It's listed under the 14A section. You might see if your local library has a copy.

Hi. This is my first post, and I need a help. I'm from Brasil, and I'm rebuiliding a 14 1/2, 44/40. I need to know the inscriptions on the barrel, about the patent and others, to record in a new barrel that was made here. The original barrel is very old and I cant read. The inscriptions was deleted.

This rifle is rare here. I never see one before. I'll revival this one. To shoot, not to save, only.:p

Thank,s and sorry bout my English. ;)

Thank's again.

Do you shoot with your, or only collect? If you shoot, it's safe to use modern amunittions with normal charges? Just to plinking?

GRT, here are more pic,s. i shoot my rifles, but don,t load them hot. the 44-40 rem pump i load with 17grs imr 4227 and a 200gr hp hornady and a speer 240 gr hp. the loads shoots quite well and kills deer at 100-125 yds, the 200gr hornady thru the lungs is deadly and the 240 speel penatrates better for larger animals. the target was shot at 100yds from a rest with the 200gr hornadies. eastbank.
