Hi Everyone:

My LGS had a "like new" condition Kahr PM9 Black Rose with Crimson Trace and two magazines for a super good price. I happened to be carrying a PM9 (Massachusetts compliant version with safety and loaded chamber indicator) at the time and decided to trade it for the Black Rose. I accepted $400.00 trade in value and paid an extra $200.00 plus tax out the door. I think I paid a fair price, and better yet, got a nice gun that does not need a safety feature...

I love the satin stainless steel look of the new gun. However, I keep reading comments from Kahr fans that assume the gun is meant for ladies, hence the engraved rose on the slide... Take a look at the photo and please let me know if you agree with those gun fans. Do you think it looks girly?

No worries, it's a nice looking gun. I own a beautiful colorful Sig P238. It's my "barbecue gun". I'm long past caring what others think about my taste. Carry it with pride. I also own a Kahr PM9 and love the gun. Major

I definitely plan to carry it and enjoy shooting it at the range. I just wish the manufacturer had named it something else like Black Knight or Black Silver or so... Don't you think?

the black rose has always been the "Gift of Death" I see nothing girly about that

Even without the "Gift of Death" reference I don't think it's too girly. Some guys are just too insecure in their masculinity. I think it's a nice looking pistol. But hey, I've carried a S&W 3919 Lady Smith in the past, so maybe I'm not the right guy to answer the question. :D

The black rose is awesome, nothing feminine about that,, I like,,:D

Now on the other hand if it was a pink rose or yellow tulip or something like that ,me thinks that might be a little girly looking,,,lol:eek:

Well, if you're Irish (Róisín Dubh) or a Goth, a pistol with a black rose on it would be most appropriate. A pistol that shoots well and can be tucked nicely in the pocket ... most appropriate no matter how it's decorated. ;)

When's the last time another guy, or gal, gave you a rose?;)

I have a plain old PM9 that has worked great right out of the box. Super sub compact with a great trigger. I doubt a BG staring down the wrong end of the barrel will care if you're effeminate or not. ;) What's the whole "Black Rose" thing about anyway?

Never mind. I went to the Kahr website. They have a pink T-Shirt with the Black Rose Design on the front. No other color, but you could get a size that fits I'm pretty sure... ;) Nice looking engraving, but I think they are marketing it towards the ladies. Too bad they don't make a slide with a coiled snake, or a shark or something. Or maybe have left off the "Black Rose" and just had the image.

I would rather have a rose on the slide than a safety on the pistol.

At least not to my face. ;)

Now I've taken good-natured ribbing about it,,,
But no one has given me any real grief.

Carry what you want my friend,,,
Outshoot the jokesters,,
That's what I do.

I've totally thought about the Black Rose Edition P380. I own a K9 Elite and it's a better gun that the rest of the Kahr line (in my opinion) because of the greater care put into making the gun. My hope would be that the Black Rose would also be a better P380. You got a good price on it. Let us know how she runs!

Does it come with a matching purse and silk shooting gloves?:p

I carry a Ms. Sentinel that I had the roll marks removed.

I love the black rose etching on it - I think it looks fantastic. I just don't particularly like the fact that it says "Black Rose Edition" on the slide.

That's just my own personal psychosis working, though. I was very interested in buying a Ruger GP-100 Match Champion, except for the obnoxious 'Match Champion' lettering on the barrel.

I hate big lettering on any gun, too. Can't stand it on my t-shirts either. I guess I don't like to advertise. It's just tacky.

the laser grip and lack of additional thumb safety and LCI makes it worth more in my book. the art work is just that, non-functional scribes that somebody else might like.

Aarond

That is one ugly gun

Where can I get me one (I think that's the right shade to go with my mauve pants and hat). :D

I couldn't bring myself to buy the PM size because I didn't like having to extend my snobby pinkie (I figure one must extend the pinkie because there's no where for it to go on the short grip). I got the P9 instead. Really like the pistol. Really like the trigger. Really like the point, pull, bang! Don't want to be fumbling around trying to disenguage a muniscule safety.

You got a good price on your Black Rose. Wish I would have seen her first.

I'd be willing to bet that the high-polish slide (which is not just for show--it's more resistant than matte finish to rust... yes, my K9 Elite has rust because it's matte) is also indicative of a high-polish feed ramp/throat, and possibly a more refined trigger.

Of all the Kahr's I've tried a trigger on, I like my K9 Elite the best, that's including T9's. More love is put into the K9 Elite than the rest of the whole line. The feed ramp on my barrel is high-polish even when compared with regular K9's and T9's. I'm willing to bet that slightly bit more polishing goes on in the inside of that Black Rose P380 than the rest of the line. I could be full of it. I've never gotten to handle one. They are probably rarer than my K9 Elite. I really want to see one now.

Heck, grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.......... I kind of want one now. Curses!

ZOMG! I didn't read the OP well! I thought it was a P380! GACK. How embarrassing. I would still apply the above logic to PM9 Black Rose. I just didn't know they made them!!! That's pretty neat.

At the very least the high polish is kind of nice for the smoother magazine release, which can be over sharp on Kahr's, which is also true of my K9 Elite.

This is how it looks like with the Crimson Trace Laser and pinkie extended magazine.

I actually think the black rose looks pretty awesome. And I like the black design on the stainless slide. As others have said, I'm not big on having a bunch of lettering on the slide. But still, it's cool. Also, if you were able to get the carry gun you want without a safety that you don't, I'd say you came out a winner even if it was marketed toward women.
