What are you guys using for lens covers for your scopes ? Is the preferred one the bikini type or separate caps ?

All my scopes wear Butler Creek flip-up caps. I can walk into the woods before dawn when it is all wet and wait until it is light before flipping the caps up. Or, if it starts raining I can flip them down again without compromising my hunting ability.

I like the flip ups and use them on my Leupold's. The last scope I purchased though was a Zeiss and it has a ring on the eye piece that won't allow a tight fit using flip ups so I use a bikini on it.

Bikini cap, take it off put it in your pocket until you need it. Amazon has some great deals on them.
I've used flip ups but they get damaged to easy, because they flip up to easy when you don't want them to. They are quite expensive an are a PITA to get one that fits the scope correctly.

The butler creek flip ups are nice and work well. Depending on what kind of scope you have there are screw in flip ups, a little more $, do the same thing, just a little better fit. I have a the butler creeks on mine, they work.

I prefer the bikini covers. The flip up's often don't have enough clearance if the scope is mounted low, which all of mine are. They are cheap, work just as well and are not specific to only 1 scope so I can use them on several different guns as needed.

I got a Zeiss Conquest (3-9x40) and had the same problem. However, I found that the rubber ring would come off and then the Butler Creek flip-up fit just fine.
A little nerve-wracking, taking stuff off of a brand-new scope... :)

I've been through two sets of Butlers on my .308; the hinges are junk. This last time around I said to heck with them and went back to the bikini that came with the scope.

I never cared for the flip-ups. I use an older type that is basically 2 caps connected by a big, flat, black rubber band. Similar in concept to the bikinis but much nicer. Butler Creek and Uncle Mikes used to make them.
