Any advice to avoid, or rather limit, holster wear (SafariLand Ret. 1)? For daily use in a holster and gets taken out and put back in often.
I know it becomes part of a carry gun's character, but a little character goes along way; i'd like to keep it minimal. On a SW M&P.
Thx

Maybe someone will post a solution, as I have never been able to prevent it in the 30+ years that I have been carrying a concealed weapon. Some rigs seem to be worse than others, but all of mine have done it.

How soon should I expect wear to set in?
Again, in the end, it's null. It is what it is.
Just curious.

Holster wear adds character. If you buy nice gear that fits well it will minimize the wear.

first buy top quality, second horsehide resists wears like iron, third polish you leather gear like you would a quality pair of shoes.
this Kramer horse hide belt scabbard is 17 years old with daily wear. still tight and comfortable
i just noticed you ment wear on the gun, not the holster, for that get a Glock.

Stainless steel guns and a leather holster will be your best choices to minimize wear appearance. That said, there is no way to stop wear especially for a gun that holstered several times a day.
There is also no timelines when wear will appear, just know that it will but the more often you holster your firearm the quicker it will show up.
