Are these reliable guns?

I read about problems with them but others rave about them. Are the newest ones improved over the first ones reliability wise?

I would assume the newer ones have addressed what problems may have been with the older ones. I've had mine for 2 years and love it. It's been perfect with all loads from light target to 00 buck and is my HD shotgun.

I have had mine for about two years, also.
And have had the same great experience
with it. How it can be reliable with both the
cheap 2 3/4 inch target loads and 3 inch
slugs was a pleasant surprise. It has replaced
my M 500 as my home defense gun.:D

I read posts all over from happy owners. 930 bet your life reliable. Best deal for the $$$

Interesting, definitely a gun that has caught my attention as well. I have read more good reviews than bad ones by far.

Been very happy with mine. Shoot 2&3/4 and 3" w/o flaw. Shoots 1.25 oz rifled slugs very well at a 100 yard. Good enough to hit a clay bird from that distance. My only problem is the LOP is just a little long for me. But that could be remedied w/ the pistol grip butt stock... JMO

I hear both good and bad comments on them...

I don't own one - so no personal experience with them.

I have had mine for two years.
Whoever was at the wheel the day they made mine was drunk.
No front sight on the rifled barrel.
Elevator was incorrectly installed so the gun won't cycle and is near impossible to load.

I reported the no front sight last year. Send two e-mails and two phone calls with a couple weeks in between each before they sent me a new front sight. In each case they took the serial number and said they would mail it.
There may have been some doubt as to whether I could install the sight into a dovetail as when I indicated I could they seemed not to believe me. I'm really not sure what the delay was all about.

I take it out to zero it this year and I find it won't cycle. The guy I get on the phone is generally knowledgeable and more or less helpful, but says I have to send it back and pay shipping. More than likely both ways. They did say they will PROBABLY fix it for free. Even so that is going to ad $50 to my cost and second year it isn't likely to get used for hunting.

OTHERWISE the gun is a little bulky compared to the 11-87 I sold to buy it. Is a bit lighter. The extra barrels are a WHOLE LOT cheaper than the Remingtons. If they get it so it runs well, pay shipping back to me, throw in some free trinket crap, etc.; I might not regret the purchase.

See, those are the type posts that make me want to shy away from the Mossberg 930 SPX. I think consistency is the key. I'm sure it's a great gun and probably makes 95 out of 100 people very happy. I just don't want to be one of the other five. I have read good reviews on it, though, and from reviewers whose opinion I do trust...

I found one on the rack. My gun was perfect. I shot it the same day. No issues with any ammo. More reliable than my Saiga 12 out of the box.

its a $600 autoloader not a beretta. All my buddies have the PG versions. Theyre a lot of fun. Im really gassin over the Jerry Miculek version.

Any other options out there?

Benellis are nice but too expensive.

What happened to the 1100 and 1187 that let the 930 creep up in popularity?
