Ok, the new S&W AR, DAMN that thing is loud, like 12 gauge loud, I was expecting a loud crack, not a boom.
First pull I felt like someone had slapped my left ear...
Now afterward, and the addition of ear plugs?
Man am I ever glad I purchased that thing, I could only get about 75yds from the target where I was, but at that distance swatting flies would have been a reasonable request once sighted in, amazing just at 2x! Definitely the weapon I wanted.
After about a hundred rounds of playing that chrome barrel still shines like a lightbright on flashlight up the barrel.
(BTW if Academy ever says they "bore sighted" your rifle for you, I can only surmise that is industry code for "made sure you would not hit anything")
I am not a competition marksman, hell I would rank myself as an average shooter at best with no real time behind a trigger for over 15 years, that thing just fit and shot like it knew what I wanted. After 5 rounds it was on mark, and stayed there.
I still want iron sights though (http://www.amazon.com/Magpul-MBUS-Front-Back-Up-Polymer/dp/B007FMDA1C/ref=pd_ys_sf_s_3375251_a1_2_p) seems to be my current preference.
The Sub-2000, ahem.. that is an awesome toy too... Best cheap gun purchase in history. I installed the new comp and sight from Red Lion, reflex shooting oil bottles at 25yd, and RELIABLY tagging them at 50, I would ask no more than that out of that weapon. One side question I will post in another thread on it though (HERE http://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?p=5181142#post5181142), not a worry so much as a concern.
All in all, very happy with the purchase, I cannot claim to be an authority on which brand or make is better, however I can now say with confidence that the S&W M&P .223 was well worth my money.
4 more magpul 30 rounders (will leave me 5 total) on the way just like the one that came with it. (http://www.midwayusa.com/product/2319370991/magpul-pmag-magazine-ar-15-223-remington-30-round-polymer) $14.20 per, could not resist that price.
