Hey guys I have a remington 74 rifle in 30-06 that I just recently picked up and was looking at it today and going through it when I noticed the magizine in it has stamped 270 win on it? Is this normal or do I have a mismatched magizine?

30-06, .270, and .35 Wheelen all use the same parent cartridge case (from the 30-06). Remington mags for all those calibers are interchangable.

thank you thats good to know. Do you know where I could find a manual or some good info on how to break down the rifle for a good cleaning?

Google Remington 7400. That was the replacement for the 74 and the takedown procedure would be either exactly the same or close enough to get you there.

I'm pretty sure the 74 and 7400 are the same gun. There may be some minor changes from the older 742. The 74 was just a budget version of the 7400 with a cheaper stock and sights. Other than that they should be the same.
