View Full Version : Commercial .308 in SCAR 17S

Obviously the SCAR is made for military use, and when we think of military specific rifles we tend to think they are made for NATO-only rounds. Has anyone ran commercial .308 Winchester through a 17S?

The FNH USA website says it's chambered "in 7.62x51mm NATO (308 Win.)," but do they really mean it's good to run .308? Yes, I know SAAMI says it's okay, and crossing the 2 is an age old debate, but we're talking new rifles here that could be made to handle both. If you don't have 1st or 2nd hand knowledge with exactly .308 in a SCAR 17S please don't post.

Sturmgewehre posts on this forum and he has done a review on youtube of the SCAR 17S Heavy.

He might be able to answer some more questions for you.

My buddy has one. He's shot 308 Win thru it without trouble. Both Remington Core-Lokts and Hornady TAP that I've seen.

That thing is completely awesome. Light, small (16 in barrel), accurate, and ZERO recoil or muzzle flip with the break. 308 firepower. But they come with a price tag, that's for sure.
