I cannot find a blued 1911, you know the ones like in 1942.

All the 1911's I can find are parkerized/SS etc.. What happen to the cool 1942 style 1911's?

Anything like this being made? just pure nice blued and shiny.

Colt is one of the few still offering blued guns.

Not old school GI style, but Les Baer still blues.

Colt would most likely be your best choice if you want a mass produced blued 1911 pistol.

I too, am very fond of nice bluing.
Bluing being a transparent finish will not cover up bad metal prep like paint will.
I believe that's why so many gun companies and even some custom builders choose paint, they don't want to do the metal prep.

Here's a picture of a custom 9mm I built and sold a while back, this gun is blued.

Best Regards

All the 1911 (A1) models made in 1942 were parkerized. The OP's picture is of a 1911-which wasn't even made in 1942.

In addition to Colt and Baer mentioned previously, Remington makes a pretty nice looking blue 1911. Ed Brown will also make any of his models in blue. His blued guns are almost black:

Les Baer blue:

I think early '42 Colts, and early production Remington Rands were in blue. I know that some Colts have parkered slides and frames, but with blued small parts, so there must have been a transition period.

EDIT: Looks like about 25,000 blued or mixed-finish pistols made by Colt in '42 (~756,000 - 780,000 serial range)

Why not buy a used ria or sa gi and and have a gunsmith blue it?

I like .380s idea, I just don't know where I could locally get a hotblue. I cold blued an RIA 1911 because it was getting beat. I polished up the slide and it turned out good. I do have to touch it up from time to time.
