One of my Chrome lined barrels in my Benelli Cordoba has a few oddities at the muzzle end opposite the ports. It looks almost like pitting from rust, but closer examination definitly disproves this. I was thinking it might have been a defect from the chrome lining process??? The gun shoots great, I'm just curious.

Possibly it could be melted plastic from the wad.

I thought so too, but I really scrubbed the area, it's certainly little dibbits in the metal. I also had the idea that (being opposite the ports in the barrel) they could be side effects of cutting the ports with the EDM process.

Are you certain the chrome isn't starting to lift? Typically, if chrome fails it's most likely at the corners (muzzle and port openings).

I could imagine that happening as well, but this is opposite where the ports are (if you through the porting and shine a light down the muzzle, there is some noticable/deep and erattic pitting, but I'm fairly sure it isn't from rust). Oh well, I guess as long as it shoots well I'm ok.:)

Keep an eye on your chrome irregularities, if they start to grow, contact Benelli.
