I was looking through a gunshop when I noticed a Ruger P-89 marked as special edition. The clerk was unable to tell me what was so "special" about it except that that the frame has a different finsh and only one 10rd mag. I saw on the box it's catalog number was P-89Tbut it is marked on the slide just P-89. Is this some "target" variant? It was priced about the same as a regular blued P-89 with two mags.

Could the "T" stand for "Terhune", the metallurgist who developed the proprietary stainless used by Ruger? Just my guess. If it's a blued gun, never mind, I'm really off mark.

The slide of the pistol is blued, but the frame is of a lighter, grayer shade.
