my favorite trap gun is an SKB single shot imported by Ithaca years ago, probably in the sixties. It has served me well for more than twenty years but over time and after thousands of rounds, it has become loose. Can it be repaired or is it hopeless? I'd really love to have it restored to its original snug lock-up rather than learn to shoot another gun.

i'm sure some hot rod shotgun smith could refit the hinge pin,,,you might try Brierley (think i spelled that wrong,,but you get it,,, lol) or someone like that
should be an Ithica repair shop somewhere you could send it,,,that is prolly a common problem seen in trap guns that have been used
just a thought

Wille,
There are a number of reasons a shotgun like your's might get loose. A worn hinge pin like ocharry already pointed out, a worn locking bolt, worn, loose or cracked barrel lumps etc.
Contact Ithaca Gun Repair aka Diamond Gunsmithing I'm sure they can help.
