Hi, I have an idea for a 1911 bushing holder and was wondering if anyone has an old 1911 slide they could sell cheap - I really only need the front half able to hold a standard 1911 bushing. If you have something you can part with CHEAP let me know, thanks.

I saw some torched slides at a gun show a while back for $5 as paper weights. Sounds like exactly what you want if you can find any.

That sounds like it would work -- anyone have a spare paperweight?

Call Springfield Armory. Every year at Camp Perry they have boxes with some old, funky, rejected and blemished parts, including 1911 slides.
That said, it isn't that hard to make something. I built a pivoting fixture years ago that let me bore the inside of a bushing to match a particular barrel's OD. It then tips the bushing the correct amount to take a clean-off pass with the boring bar that allows the barrel to tip up into the locking lugs. It was just a way to avoid the traditional scraping.
