I have a TPS 20 moa base that ive had on my remmy .308 for about 3 years now, and i think whenever i got it on th rifle, it may have been over tightened. I have tried with many alloy steel Star Bit drivers and i have had absoloutely no luck, the screws strip the heads of the bits. I didnt know if anyone knew of any other way to get the screws loose.
Could there be a way to drill the head of the screws down and then take it off? The only thing keeping me from doing that is the fact that im drilling on my gun and i am NOT a gunsmith.

Help!!

You answered your own question.......you're not a gunsmith. if your not comfortable with drilling out the screw, then take it to a pro. I had the same problem with my Rem 700 when I bought it. the smith I used had to heat the screws to get the Loc-tite to break free.

Sounds like someone used Red locktite on it instead of blue.

That's exactly right. I wondered why someone would leave quick detach bases on a gun until I tried to take them off. Thought of heating it up myself, but left it to a professional.
