I nearly got a 6mm last year at a local gunshow... was one of the Remington 7600s that they were only making 250 of each caliber..with maple wood..

... Didnt want to hassle with just one more caliber that I wasnt set up to load for.

impressive collection. I went to Detroit Lakes this past summer and stopped at the downtown sporting goods store there - it had the worst customer service ever. none of the employees were even remotely helpful. there was, however, a big flea market happening that same day and there happened to be some fella selling off his gun collection. I only wished I had that much cash on me at the time

gaseousclay, thanks for visiting our town this past summer. I'm sorry to read about your customer service at our local gun store. I have a copy of your reply and will hand deliver it tomorrow. Marty, the main guy behind the counter is a friend of mine, fishing, hunting, reloading and very knowlagable on firearms and is very concerned on customer satisfaction. That said when you return to town PM me and we could hit the pontoon or the fishhouse season depending. deadeye

I wouldn't worry about it so much. the problem I had at this particular sporting goods store was that no one even bothered to ask me if I needed help. I know I could've just asked, but since I was the only person browsing their gun selection I felt that they should've asked and that they would've wanted my business, but I must've looked like some scuzzy out of towner not worth talking to. I think I stood there browsing their guns for 15 minutes while listening to the employees chat with each other. Normally this is behaviour I would expect from a big box store like Gander Mtn, Dick's or even Cabela's, but not a small family owned sporting goods store in a small town. I'm sure the sales people at this store are helpful to plenty of others, they just weren't very helpful to me on that particular day. I left feeling pretty frustrated. I know they can't please everyone and that maybe I should've been more proactive in dealing with them, but back then I didn't know as much about rifles/shotguns and would've appreciated some guidance. I might consider going back next summer - maybe things will be different.

A photo of my Garand and Enfields might be on one of those forums at "Gunandgame", different nickname.

My wife knows the technology, but I'm too dumb to understand it after watching the steps just once or twice.

It's not the quantity.....it's the quality of a collection that counts. I'd much rather have one high end quality piece than 10 budget guns.

I buy what I can afford for what I'm after in a gun if that makes any sense. We'd all love to have high end fire arms, but I've taken just as many deer with my "Cheapo" 870 as I could have with say a Winchester SXT. Nothing wrong with the SXT, a friend of mine has one and I would too if I could afford it amongst other things I'd like to have, but it's a compromise.

As long as the right people are collecting/shooting fire arms I'm okay with that, regardless of how top end they are.

One mans quality is another mans budget gun. As long as you love the sport, take care of your equipment and shoot. That's all that counts.
