What is the prevailing Optic being used on AR-15's.

Well my favorite(s) and what's prevalent may not be the same. But for a red dot the Aimpoint Micro and for glass the Trijicon TA-33-8.

It makes a big difference what you intend to shoot with it.
ACOGS make a lot of sense for some purposes. The Leu VX3 2.5-8 is another good match. Some of these are setup for the designated marksman rifle.
They would work well as a coyote scope. If prairie dogs are your main pursuit,my eyes don't work so well with the 8x past250,275,maybe 300,depending on the light. Then,as you get up into 10x plus, the scope gets kind of big. That 2.5-8 leu is a nice match.I,myself, would get a B+C reticle.

For me it's the Trijicon 3-9X 40mm:

Aimpoint T1 in front of an Aimpoint 3x magnifier, both on LaRue QD mounts. Easy day.

I've never had an optic on any of my ARs.

Was an Eotech for many years. Now, I've switched to a Burris 1x4 XTR, with a speed dot on top.

Good taste! ;) Those were my exact answers as well, except I'd throw in the Trijicon 1-4x Accupoint for a variable scope in there as well depending on the uses.

I'm an odd ball, but I really like my Leupond Mark 4 CQ/T. It's ugly and remarkably bulky, but it's fast, accurate, and very durable. I have one on my duty rifle and wouldn't switch it for anything.

ACOG or my IOR M2

If you were selecting an Eotech or Aimpoint with a magnifier, which one would you choose.

Also anyone have or familiar with Burris Eliminator Laser scope. Very interesting scope from reading the details on their website. Also Nikon has it's version of powered scope and range finder combo.

My favorite is the Aimpoint CompM4 with the 3x magnifier. But it's also a little large and heavy, so the Micro T-1 (or H-1) with a magnifier is also quite good.

On one rifle I have the CompM4 with the 3x magnifier (both on LaRue mounts). On another I have the T-1 with the LaRue Po'Boy magnifier (again, LaRue mounts). No complaints whatsoever with them.
