Just got an AR-15 rifle kit from Del-ton - I didn't realize it comes without rear sights.

I'm new to AR-15s, not very familiar with the different sight options. I definitely want something not too expensive.

Can anyone recommend a good affordable rear sight?

I have a GG&G A2 rear sight on my RRA LAR15. I like it. It works well and didn't cost a bloody fortune. In fact all I run on the RRA are iron sights. There's nothing to go wrong with good set of iron sights. It's my home defense AR. I scoped the Stag Arms Model 8 for hunting, or medium range personal defense.

Magpul makes a nice modular back-up sight. You can lay it down in storage, and push the tabs on the side to pop it up when you need it. It's called a MBUS Rear Back up sight (MBUS stands for Magpul Back Up Sight :p ) . They're worth every penny. ;)

For an affordable rear sight of decent quality (assuming you don't plan to use optics), DPMS has an acceptable rear sight. UTG has one too, but I can't and won't vouch for their quality- it might be fine, it might be iffy.

I also use GG&G A2 flip up rear sights. I've got a set on two different rifles.

It depends on what type you'd like. Are you looking for a fixed or folding type. MI and YHM make good, cheap folding rears. For fixed, I'd recommend a Daniel Defense A1.5 or Troy fixed battle sight.
