I found over at PerfectUnion that Nutnfancy had done a review on the new Tapco Mags forthe Mini-14..........and got disappointing results.

Tapco Mini-14 Mags: Not Ready for Primetime...Yet (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmDDJCg0nfc) - YouTube

Copied Cliff Notes:
- failure to feed
- weak spring
- polymer failure at mag retention hole
- excessive wiggle
+ great baseplate
+ low weight
+ waffle design
+ great color options

This is a shame because it would have been nice to have a reliable alternative to the Ruger Factory mags. Tapco usually doesn't put out bad products, ugly products yes, so I am wondering why they would have released the magazines before they were ready? Nothing pre-release looking with the magazines.

Just spreading the word around to let people make their own decisions.

ive been using pro-mag 20rd. mags for about 4yrs. and i had 1 ftf with one and never a problem with the other. ruger mags are getting cheaper so that will prolly be my next mag purchase.

Hmmm...I purchased two of these Tapco Mini-14 mags as soon as they came out. I would counter that review by nutnfancy over at the PU website. Here is my experience with them:

- excellent fit with the 4 Mini-14's we tried them with (4 different series)
- mags retained a full load (30 rds) when stored to capacity for 2 weeks
- zero FTF's with either mag on any of the 4 rifles
- bolt locked back every time after final round was fired

The Tapco mags performed equally as well as the old Thermold polymer mags used to. For only $15 apiece, I don't know what more a guy could want. I consider them a great buy...plan to get more...;)
