So I have been looking for a good quality scope to put on my Remington SPS Tactical .308. After talkin with a few ppl the suggested that a Nikon Monarch had better qualities than other scopes in its price range. At my local shop I can get the scope for $350 which i think is a pretty good deal. Do you guys think this is a good deal or should I look into a different scope for that money?

I have one on my Sendero 7rm. I like it alot. And $350 is a hell of a deal. It only has 40 moa of adjustment which might not be a big deal to you. I added an EGW 1 piece 20 moa rail on mine. I have a SPS tactical in 308 also. It wears a Mueller tac II. Probaly my favorite current rifle.

For that money, I don't think you can find a better scope than that Nikon.

When I bought mine, a 3X9, I was going to buy a Zeiss or a Leupold and was turned onto the Nikon by the salesman. After comparing all three, I felt the Nikon was the clearest and brightest by far. I've been very happy with it and it's held zero very well on my 45-70 govt Ruger No. 1.

I find that very hard to believe. My Nikon (exactly as the OP is describing) is every bit as clear if not moreso as my Leupold Tactical and VX-III. My Nikon Buckmaster's are very clear too, but the Monarch is as clear as anything under $1500 I've ever looked through. Nikon makes great scopes.

Same here, my Nikons are by far better then the Leuypolds I have which BTW cost more.

I believe Leupold uses Nikon lenses in their scopes. Leupoold makes Redfield scopes so I can only assume they have the same lenses as well. I have had them all and liked them. You will find haters on both sides. I like the Nikon Monarch very much but I can't get past the quality of Leupold as a company and how great they are to deal with. I also lean toward Leupold because they are homegrown (Oregon).
They are all great choices,
GAR

Thanks for all the advice guys, I could stand looking at my Remington any longer without a scope so i went and bought myself the Nikon Monarch. I got it mounted on there and wow is that scope clear! I am very excited about my purchase and hopefully i can shot as well as my gun can!

You'll love it.
I had cash in pocket and compared VX-III, Bushnell Elite 4200 and Nikon Monarch sxs, and bought the Nikon.
Excellent glass and reputation for quality.

I have the same scope on my 700 and it's very good for the money. You did fine.

Best,
