View Full Version : Hi-VIS BEAD SIGHT

Hey yall. I want to put a good high visibility sight on my new 500A Persuader, but don't know what sight to choose. I've done a little research, and from what I've found, I really like the idea of the Hi-Vis snap on. Does anyone here have any experience with this sight on their shotgun?

My dad has one on his .20 gauge and likes it. I used it once to quail hunt and it was better than the normal bead.

With a well practiced comp gun, you don't need sights -- the gun shoots where you are looking. The sights are just to verify your mount. With a Persuader type gun, you'll probably never get that well accustomed to it, and will use the sights. The sunlight powered glow sights help some shooters, others find them a distraction.

I'm assuming you have a Persuader for HD. Where's the sight going to get it's light when responding to something in the dark? Perhaps a better selection would be a sight of the glow in the dark tactical variety, instead of a daylight hunting/target unit.

I put one on my 1912 Winchester. I'm new to shotgunning and was having trouble hitting clays. I think it's really helped. When I get a whole lot better I'll try taking it off. In any case, it's cheap, snaps on and off, and doesn't actually modify the gun. About the worst thing that could happen is that you'd have spent maybe $20.

I say go ahead and try it .......its cheap / snaps on and off if you don't like it.

Like Zippy said - the only reason to have sights on a shotgun is to make sure you have not canted the gun as you mount it ...after that, you don't look at the sights anyway. A lot of "target grade" O/U's have these hi-viz sights on the front now ....and they're ok.

Yes, these sights work well for me. I mounted the TruGlo Fat Bead (red) on my Mossberg 500, and my trap scores immediately improved--right up to my first 25 straignt. I also have a browning O/U which came with the Hi-Viz (green) front sight, and it has worked well. Most of the Trap shooters where I frequent have these sights.
