Ok first I am shooting a DPMS AP4 carbine .223 with a 1/9 twist barrel. What would be the proper bullet weight to use in this rifle for mid to long range shooting and HD if needed?

Thanks
JJ

Usually your best accuracy out of a DPMS chambered in .223 with a 1-9 twist will be found with 50-62 grain bullets. With the 5.56 chambered AP4 and a 1-9 twist we recommend 50-69 grain.

If it is a DPMS AP4, it will be chambered for 5.56x45mm. We don't make a .223 AP4. Check the underside of the barrel forward of the front sight base for the chamber stamp.

Each barrel can be slightly different though, so finding your best round for accuracy will take a little experimentation. Grab a few boxes of various stuff and make a day at the range out of it.

anything up to 75gr. should shoot fine out of a 1/9 twist barrel..
