I am assembling an AR-15 .22lr and I want a tactical looking scope that can magnify a target at 100yrds like its 5-10 ft away. I'd like to keep it the $100-200 range. Has anyone had success with one in particular?

36 power scope will let you see the bullet holes very clearly at 100yds.

Quite hard to find something that will go up to such magnifications in that price range. Sure, one can get a Chinese-made, Russian-branded ZOS (the epitome of "cheap", innit?) that zooms to 24x or whatever, but mine at least went totally dim at about 14x and beyond.
E.g. Bushnell 3200 series and above may give somewhat decent bang for your buck, but it'll already be outside that budget.

100 yards = 300 feet.
If you want to view something as if it were 10 feet away, you would need a 30x power optic by my rough math.
I'd look for used Weaver's if money is tight.

A 30x scope for $100-200? Unless you get very lucky indeed with a used scope, you're not going to find anything with that much magnification and decent optical quality in that price range. And without good optics, the magnification is pretty much useless.
But why do you think you need such a powerful scope? At 100 yards, a really good quality 4x, fixed power scope may be all you need -- and you might find one of those, used, in your price bracket. Quality optics, with good lenses and lens coatings, and good light-gathering properties, will be bright and clear, and will trump high magnification and poor optics pretty much every time, IMHO.
Or, you could just learn to shoot well at 25 yards with iron sights... it can be done. :)

A 14x scope and "Shoot-n-See" brand targets (for the range.)

Anyone familiar with one of these? Remember its for a .22lr AR not a .223...

Not familiar with the 3-9x42 P4 Sniper Scope in question, but the BDC is calibrated for a .223 caliber round, not a .22LR. If your criteria is "magnifying a target at 100 yd’s like its 5-10 ft away" you will need a much more powerful scope. I enjoy precision shooting a CZ 453 bolt action .22LR at 100 yards and find 15-18X range scope more than adequate.

Greysmoke,
For the price on that scope you can get something much better. Anything with the "P4 sniper reticle" is likely to be a crappy made in China POS.

I too would skip the P4/China thing.
However, I am sold on this company even though they may be made in China, Japan, or Phillipines- they are a good scope.

Nikon has a nice 4x32 rimfire scope for about $110.
Weaver has one too, but it's about $135.
For about $200, you can get a good 3-9x40 from several companies - but parallax will be set for 100 - 200 yards, so your cheek-weld consistancy will be more important closer in.
