What are you looking to do?
Tons of stuff out there... need to narrow it down a little.

Grundig and Sangean make good shortwave receivers. I have a Sangean model. This is a reputable site: http://www.grove-ent.com/
Good scanners include AOR, ICOM and Uniden. Find these at http://www.scannermaster.com/
Two way walkie talkies can be found at most any sporting goods store. Way too many models with different features to quote a price on any type of comms equipment without knowing what you're looking for.
Ham radio equipment is another animal, but you can get into it with a technician's license.

It all depends on what you're planning/wanting to do...
Two-way communications? A UHF portable handheld from ICOM (IC-F24 gets my vote) or Motorola (CP200 gets my vote here).
Scanners are available from many reliable manufacturers.
HF communications get a bit more pricey, FCC license is required I believe...
Wayyyy too many options out there... What's the goal here?
