View Full Version : BM59 Garand kits?
November 18, 2009, 02:09 PM
I saw an ad in Shotgun news while in the throneroom for Italian BM59 kits. They're complete minus receiver and supposedly one from a stock M1 will fit with modification. Anybody have experience with these things? Looks like it could be a fun project gun.

I thought they were the Italian M14.

They are not an M14. They use a modified M1 action. Not sure how much "modification" must be done.

I think the receiver is cut.
I was told it ruins any collector value.
What does the kit cost?

Sarco's selling the BM59 kit or a .308 M1 parts kit for around $400 each. Problem is that the only receivers I can find run about $200. That'll get you a service grade from the CMP and save one heck of a lot of hassle.
