has anyone had any experence with these barrel stabilizers for the mini 14 the are called mo-rod's just wonder if they actualy work just picked up a older mini 14 and have read how crapy the accuracy is and thought a gizmo that shrinks the groups like it shows on there website www.mo-rod.com for under a hundred bucks it would be a great thing to have

you need to shoot what you got first with different ammo to try and find out just exactly how bad it shoots before you improve it....

I saved the money and used $9 clamps from cheaper than dirt and put a piece of aluminum rod in there.. My mini shoots about an inch at 100yds reliably, for under $50.

There are plenty of do-it-yourself barrel stabilizer projects to read about, but I will venture to say that most are not as successful as claimed. The most common 2 problems are slipping when the rifle is fired, and failure to provide the necessary barrel rigidity because most homemade stabilizers are clamped only to the barrel. The Mo-Rod's custom clamps simply do not slip...period. It is also anchored to the front of the gas block in addition to the barrel, providing extreme rigidity during firing.

You need to shoot it first. Not every Mini produced is a crappy shooter. There are also other things you can do for a Mini, if needed, that don't cost anything, or very little. Re-torqueing the gas block, bedding, etc. Shoot it first.

If it's an older pencil tube Mini it almost certainly improve with either a Mo-Rod or Accu-Strut. While I have an Accu-Strut and can attest that it worked well on my older Mini I'm told that the Mo-Rod is also very effective and I have no reason to doubt it.

I do suggest that you establish a baseline before you add a strut just so you know what you've accomplished. And please report back!

Thanks,

I own a 186 series mini 14 (pencil barrel). I purchased a MoRod from KMO months ago. I have not kept any scientific data to prove its performance. I can tell you this that my mini shoots better and I have been hitting more things that I shoot at then before. I am not a hunter or a skilled marksman, but I do enjoy to target practice and hit objects that I point at. Definitly an improvement with this stabilizer then before as I have owned this rifle for over 10 years.

Hey KMO,miss you over at PU. Keep in touch. Joe
