I thought i would start this thread because im keen to see what kind of toys come out to play when hunting..

Anyway this is a picture of my truck and my mates truck, also both our .300 win mags..

The utes are both Toyota Hilux, mine being the green one..

The rifles are mine a winchester model 70 leaner and trimmer, my mates a browning A-bolt

G'day. I drive my sons Suzuki Alto. 0.8 litre 3 cylinders of shear neck snapping horsepower (it even has a Bull-bar).

I've lost my photos on the computer for a while. having trouble finding anything.

Wish we could import the 2.5L diesel in the US or I wish our domestic makers would produce one for sale here. I guess the EPA needs to justify it's existence.

But hell with that, instead of spending that much time in the fab shop cussing I'll just work some overtime and pay to ride in one of these...

Fisherman66, they are both 3 litre turbo diesel. Plenty of grunt for the bush. My mates one is an 06 and mine an 04. The main difference is the later model comes intercooled. And of course cosmetic features are a little different.

BIGR, thats right you wont find a spark plug under the hoods of our turbo diesels;).

The older trucks used to come out with the 2.8 litre diesel, bloody gutless when towing a load.

9999, we can't import those little gems. I understand Ford makes a Ranger quad cab with a diesel that they export or assemble outside of the US.

fisherman, yeah i realised that when i visited the US in August. All your bloody trucks are huge. Even old Grandma's driving them..........

And the price of diesel in Australia at the moment is $1.17 a litre... Go figure.. Thats about $4.00 a gallon in your end of the world.. And that's with the Aussie dollar over 90 cents US...

Yup. They actually designate our trucks by the stationary gravitational field they produce on the surrounding area....1/2 ton, 3/4 ton, 1 ton, ect.;)

For future reference, for fellow 'standard' system users: 1 US Gallon = ~3.8 Liters. Just multiply their price per liter by 3.8 for a rough estimate of the equivalent price. If you want to dig deeper, convert that with an exchange rate.

Ah... that depends upon what the typical use, type of vehicle, and how the driver takes on the task.

In the desert, my brothers' trucks shine. Big, bad, and a smooth ride.

But... you get them into the trees ("high country" here), and they're at the mercy of a long wheelbase. There are many roads around here, that a full-size 'Yank Truck' can't fit down: too wide; too tall; too long; too much overhang.

My Ranger, on the other hand; is wearing slightly oversized tires on a completely stock truck. She's gone anywhere I ever asked her to: bogged through Florida swamps, powered through Wyoming ravines (much worse than they sound), forded streams, crawled over hurricane debris, traversed muddy mountain peaks, and twisted through craggy rocks.
The length, width, height, and power behind it all make for a very useful vehicle.

This picture is a year old, and the only one I could find. As I said, she's wearing some slightly larger (and much better riding) mud tires; instead of those horrible stock Wranglers.
The rifle is a unique bubba-jobbed .243 Win. It works, but I prefer other rifles. It has since been repainted. It is now referred to as "The Pinkerizer". (Do a search on these forums for pink camo.)

Yes, the face was replaced with the antelope's, and the antelope's face is mostly missing.

G'day. I finally got some photos sorted. This is what a good mate of mine uses to 'spot' some suitable targets. He has done some culling from it as well. He used to do a lot of mustering, now mostly just for fun.

Until I can afford a short wheelbase 4x4 dodge ram or chevy then I guess this will have to do. (I don't have pics on this computer so here is a "stock photo"..mine is identical but with bigger stickier tires and a rem 700 sticking out the window) :D

Its a bit loud for stalking, but thankfully it can usually catch up to anything it sends running.
Oh, and its got more torque than your diesel :p

I will just stick with my old 66 Bronco 1/2 cab and the M77R ruger in 300WM.
