Just wondering if there are any other Ptarmigan hunters out there. Where do you like to hunt, what subspecies, what gun-choke-shot combinations do you prefer? Do you hunt with or without a dog?

Me-
-Kenai Peninsula high country
-Mostly Willow Ptarmigan
-Browning BPS Upland Special 12 ga.
-IC,M, IM with 7 1/2 and 6 shot (depends on how early the birds are flushing)
-I'll give the mutt a try this year and see how she does (Rottweiler/Lab mix).

Up here I believe they are all Willow Ptarmigan, although we have spruce and ruffed grouse also. I use mostly either whatever shotgun I have with me (usually an old beat up Mossberg 500 that rides in the toboggan behind snowmachine) or an AR-15 with FMJ.

No Ptarmigan down here but I have some time set aside next week for Chukars and Hungarian Partridge....
