How do I remove the front sight from the barrel of my RSI ? And: The rifle came without the scope rings. Do I need the Ruger rings or are there compatable rings that will fit the cutouts on the receiver? I purchased the rifle from a local gunshop, used : 99% . Got a wicked good deal!

The front sight simply slides off, inline with the bore once it's release plunger is held depressed.
Replacement sights are also made by New England Custom Gun (use your google-fu).

The sight base, however, is sweated on - and will get waaaay out of control, should you get to trying to remove it.

FWIW, I would leave well enough alone, since it's part of the overall style/design of the rifle.

AFAIK, Burris, Leupold and most likely others (besides Ruger) make special rings that are compatible with the Ruger's receiver dovetails.

FYI...make sure you get rings designed for your model when ordering from an aftermarket supplier.

While you are looking at NECG's site for the front sight check out their peep sight designed for the Ruger ring cuts. Super cool!
