View Full Version : Kudos to Kimber

Not sure this is the right place for this but I'll give it a shot. If a staff member feels it needs to be moved, please do so.

Sent my 7 year old Kimber Stainless Pro Carry back to the factory as the safety plunger and tube had broken from the gun. Kimber fixed it at no charge. While they had it, I elected to have them install night sights and change out the springs. They essentially tuned up the weapon and even buffed the barrel for me. They had possession of my property for four days and it was on the way back to me. I received it today and it looks as good as the day it first came out of the box. It was the most accurate gun I ever took out of a box and I have no doubt that it will be just as accurate, if not more so, now that the sights are more visible. Kimber did an excellent job in a very short time and I am extremely pleased.

I am glad you had a good experience with Kimber on your .45. I had nightmare results with them. Due to that, I switched to Para Ords pieces. I sold my Kimbers well below wholesale just to unload them. The main problems I had with Kimbers were FTF and FTE multiple times sending it back. They would say they fixed it. I would take it to the range and FTF and FTE no matter what ammo or clips I used. This happened on 2 Kimbers made approx 1 year apart from each other. I bought the 2nd one because I thought anyone could get a lemmon ONCE. They both turned out to be lemmons. My Para's have worked out of the box from day one no matter what I feed them or the mags I use. I am not sure what changed at Kimber, but my personal opinion is they went down hill. I will admit, they would turn the gun around quickly with an explaination what they did to correct the problems. The root problems were never corrected though. I am sure it was how I was holding my Jaw when firing a Kimber :)

I have heard this before but I can only tell you that my experience was outstanding. Other than the broken part, my Kimber has performed excellently and I have never had a FTF or FTE. I have a Colt Officer's Model that I never use anymore for that very reason. Always a FTF or FTE. Tried everything and ended up with Wilson Combat Mags which helped a lot but not perfect. Can't use anything but a 100% reliable gun for CCW. I recently bought a new Para 1911 and looking forward to my first trip to the range. I might also add that I now use an H&K as my primary CCW weapon with a Glock 36 for backup.

Glad to hear it. None of my seven Kimbers (so far) have given me a moment's grief... Unlike Colt, Para, Springfield, and every-other-1911-manufacturer-I've-owned.
Always Shoot Straight. Be Safe.
May the Schwartz Be With You.
BTW, if you are talking about the Kimber Series II trigger safety system, it's "Swartz", not "Schwartz".
