Hi all,
I'm about to take the barrel from my Model 41 to a smith to be drilled and tapped for a Weaver base. I have the #62 base ready to go, but can someone tell me which way the base gets mounted, just in case the gunsmith is unsure?

http://www.trigphoto.com/images/ghiapics/barrelbase.jpg

As you can see in the picture, one end of the base has a single groove and the mounting holes close to the end, and the other end had three grooves closer together, with the mounting holes further from the end.

Can someone with a drilled/tapped M41 barrel tell me where their holes are drilled, so that I know which way this thing is supposed to be mounted?

Thanks much -
- Dave

S&W Rocks.

I called customer support, got transferred to their Maine shop, where a couple of the guys took 10 minutes to find the exact specs for the factory drill pattern.

Thanks anyway, folks!

Duh. I should post what I learned, in case anyone ever has the same question.

From the square undercut of the barrel (where the barrel hangs over the front of the frame) working back, the holes are located at:

2.450"
3.311"
4.970"
5.575"
