I just purchased a 20g 500 with a 24" rifled barrel for hunting. I would like to also use this shotgun for home defense, however I can not find a smooth bore barrel under 26" anywhere. Can anyone give me a suggestion on where to find a 18.5"-22" barrel?
Thanks for your help.

You may have to make your own. For some reason, Mossberg, who will sell you any sort of mall ninja shotgun with useless shiite such as pistol grips, heat shields, and ridiculous barrel attachments of all sorts, won't sell you a short barrel for your 20g or 410.
More likely, there just isn't a market for it.
And gunsmith can do it fairly cheaply so long as you are willing to live with toughup blue.

I tried the obvious places...google, ebay, mossberg.com, amazon. No luck.

The youth/ladies sizes 500's come with a 22" smooth bore barrel. Try to get a replacement barrel for one.

The bantams and superbantams have a shorter magazine tube, thus the barrels do not interchange with a normal 500b 20g.

The bantams are a 5+1 just like the rest...
They used to have 18 inch barrels for 20 gauge so I do not know what happened.
Get a used barrel and cut it down and have a hole drilled and tapped for a bead.

I have a 23" smooth bore slug barrel with rifle sights. It is pitted pretty bad inside and out, but it is straight and shoots good. $50 delivered if you can use it.
