I have a Winchester 1400 with the standard chokes, ie full, mod etc. I am getting a late start on spring turkey season and would like help on selecting a load. I, of course, will pattern any loads before going into the woods but I don't have enough time to work through all the available ammo. Please help with what has worked for you as far as full, mod chokes and 2 3/4" ammo. Thanks in advance.

Be sure to compare your Mod against your Full. Some guns will pattern better with a Mod. I use Remington #4 Copper Plated Buffered shot as I believe it hits harder than other sizes and patterns about the same. Personally that is the only load I use, but others like # 5 or #6. Any will work if the range is right. Good luck on your Turkey.

Thanks for the info. I don't expect much since I have never tried 'talking' to them. When working the call I'll probably sound like a cracked up hooker hen that no tom wants a part of. But I think it will be fun.

Tony, Don't write off your odds so fast... We all seen episodes of "COPS" that have some guy busted with a "Cracked up hooker" in the car:D:eek:;)
The Tom may leave a bit to be desired 'cuz not every guy has what it takes to impress the sweet soundin' $1,000 "escort"!

Tony, if you don't remember anything else remember this. Turkey eyes are something like 20 times better than humans. CAMO, CAMO, CAMO and be still. Don't call too much. A little goes a long way.
