Can anybody suggest a good safe that is only 23 inches wide. Measured my bedroom closet door and that is al that will fit thru. This is the only place the wife will let me put it by the way.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks

We move safes sideways. If you have a 23" door, can you get a safe that's wider, but less than 23" deep (21" body depth, plus 2" for the dial, handle, and hinges)?

Think a little outside the box, er, closet:

winchester safes in fort worth. Call them and see if they have a dealer in your area. I had a width limit too to get thru the door. good product.

Chuck, how much did the HC Amsec run you? My mom wants a guntype safe but thinks they are an eyesore (women). She might go for one like that. Im sure its not cheap.

Have you seen the Homak in-the-wall gun cabinet? It installs in the wall, between studs. It's only about 16" wide and 4" deep.
It's tight - maybe two long guns. It's also not a true safe - but it is haeavy and well built. I have two and am happy with them.
For some reason I can't find them on the Homak site, but they are on eBay.

If all else fails interior door frames are pretty easy to remove, and cheap to replace.

It's going to be pricier, but look at Zanotti safes:

They have models that are 25" wide BUT they actually get delivered to you in 6 pieces (floor, roof, 3 walls and a door) that you assemble yourself. This means you could easily install it in the closet without having to take apart any door jam.
I have two full size ones and highly recommend them.
