The ATF has recently taken identifying what a machine gun is to the extreme. An army veteran of 16 years of service lent his personal AR-15 out and there was subsequently a malfunction that caused what sounds like a slam fire. He is facing 30 months in federal prison and his residence was raided by FBI, ATF, local police, and sheriff departments. Link to the video is below.

The Olafson case has been discussed to death here (http://www.thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=275955) almost a year ago.

Sorry you're just finding out about it.

The moral of the story? If you know your gun is acting like a machine gun, you should get it fixed and not loan it out to strangers.
