I have a question about remington 870 choate magazine tubes.

I know the +2 choate fits the 18" barrel evenly.

I also know the +3 fits the 20" barrel evenly.

I need a magazine tube extension that fits a 26" barrel evenly or as close as possible.

Does choate or any company make one that fits evenly or almost evenly with a 26" barrel?

As I recall:

A +4 fits a 22" barrel and a +6 fits a 26" barrel.

Does it fit the barrel evenly? If not does any one know of any company that makes a magazine tube extension that evenly fits an 26" 870 barrel evenly?

Knew a guy who had a 10 shot tube on a 30" barrel. The tube went nearly to the end as I recall. He needed a gun bearer to carry it though.
Choate makes a 10 shot extension. $48 each($44 for a 9 shot). If you have a new 870, you'll have to drill out the dimples with a 3/16" drill for the spring to go into the long tube.
"...fits the 18" barrel evenly...know the +3 fits the 20" barrel evenly..." Not quite, but close. The 7 shot comes to 2.25" from the muzzle on a 20" barrel.

I have a remington 870 20" barrel with rifle sights on one of my shotguns. It has the +3 extension on it and it is even with the barrel.

Drilling the magazine tube is for suckers.

Look for my thread on removing dimples without a drill or dremel tool.

It is so easy a monkey could do it.

Can anyone recommend a close fitting magazine tube extension for a 870 26" barrel?

Someone some where here must know.

I thought we had made it clear.....A 10 shot model will be even with a 26" barrel.

Choate makes them. Read the info on their site:

Okay I will try this.

I called choate and the woman on the phone had no idea if the 10 shot would fit evenly or nearly even with the barrel.

You need one that is 14.25" long. I can do one for you that will be even with the muzzle on a 26" barrel. It should have 10+1 capacity.

Standard shells measure 2.25" long

2.25" x 10 = 22.5" that leaves 3.5" for the spring and follower. That should be enough. I suggest you use a Nordic mag clamp. They are well made and wide which will give a lot of support.

It's going to be one muzzle heavy shotgun.

Max100 I bought a custom magazine tube extension from you before. It was for a mossberg breacher. I was thinking about talking to you for one, but I was checking to see if there was a factory one available.

Talk to someone at Choate that can measure one for you. The girls up front have no idea what is going on. I have dealt with them before. Ask to speak to one of the sales reps or someone in the back that can take a measurement. Chances are the 10 or 12 shot won't be flush with the muzzle with a 26" barrel.

Most all tube extensions are either a little short or a little long. That is why I decided to make mine flush with the muzzle with any barrel length up to 26".
