1866 Yellow Boy lever-action rifle; 45-Long Colt

I was at the gun range today shooting my 45 Long Colt reload bullets and after the 30th round, my casing got stuck. When I went to eject the spent casing from the rifle, I could not get the casing all the way out. It was stuck inside the chamber. The casing backed out only a little bit, but not enough to get it to come out all the way. What's causing the casing not to come out?

Could be several things.
First I'd check and see if the chamber is fouled badly.
Could be your load specs,brass and or powder too.If your loading too light the cases may not be expanding enough to seal with the chamber walls allowing excessive fouling to build up in the chamber.Ive had that happen before.
If that one round was by chance loaded too hot or too long it may have caused excessive pressure and the case to stick.Tired brass can do it too.
Whats the primer look like....any signs of pressure etc.?
Is the spent cases excessively blacked on the exterior?
If so how far down?
I'd personally clean the chamber and bore real well,then get some different ammo and see if it does it again.

Get yourself a good 36" hardwood dowel 3/8" in diameter and knock it out. The reason will probably be printed on the brass itself.

Yup sounds like foulding...30 shots without a wipin' down is purdy good.
Were they BP or Cowboy rounds? I'd guess maybe Cowboy loads with Unique smokeless...they get purdy dirty too.
