View Full Version : Unidentified pistol update

One of the members suggested I send the picture of the mystery revolver to the firearms curator at the Buffalo Bill museum in Cody WY. I did that and he responded. This is what he said,

Mr. Sikes,

Your revolver appears to be a copy of either a late version of the W.W. Marston pocket revolver or a second model William Irving Pocket Model. Unless there are marks that identify a maker or indicate a European proof firing, I would expect that it was a knock-off of one of these manufacturers from the area of the Confederacy.

I doubt the identification as a Shawk and McLanahan due to the squared grip mating with the frame and the very heavily built pivot for the loading arm on the S&M design.

Good Luck,

David Kennedy

The Buffalo Bill museum is a great place for info - I've asked them questions in the past and they respond quickly and in detail.
So it's a one of a kind garage-made hybrid. Cool.
