I was reading Eric Larrabee's Roosevelt's Lieutenants (A good book by the way)
Larrabe was a JO in a tank destroyer unit during the war. He states that he disliked the carbine as "a dirty look made it jam" . I know it was a relatively weak pistol cartridge but I had not heard that it jammed easily. Has anyone else come across this concern about the carbine?

I never heard that jamming was a huge issue until it was made into the automatic firing M2 version. But the lubricants of the time might not have been so great in very cold weather or something. During production, changes were made in components to improve reliability. Of course a carbine that had been in service since 1942 would be well used and maybe not have the latest and greatest. Maybe it was not as reliable as the 1911A1 it was supposed to replace, however. The ammo was not exactly a knock em stiff sure thing but now we have more effective bullets for it than just round nose ball.
