I have inherited a SxS shoty. I have trying to research this weapon but haven't had much luck. Does any one have any leads for me?

Is there a website I can go to, to find out info on serial numbers etc...

at e-gunparts.com. They have a listing of common gun names and might help there, also try double guns.com and search there.

You may have an English gun, so check for "Birmingham Proof house" and London Proof house. for cross references.

WC Scott and Son was a Birmingham England maker who made guns under their own marque and also for many others. A box lock of their design was widely sold here and in the UK.

They made good stuff, and much is sought after today. As with all old guns, a smith needs to check it out before use.

Later the firm morphed into Webley and Scott, ca 1895, IIRC.

I've shot a couple Scotts. Nice....
